Alex is a Partner at Metis Strategy. During his tenure at Metis Strategy, Alex has led and supported a variety of client engagements with Fortune 500 and FT Global 500 companies, as well as with small and medium-sized enterprises, across industries and geographies.
He manages project teams and advises business and IT executives in dynamic and highly-collaborative client engagements by bringing to the table a multi-disciplinary perspective and actionable thought-leadership. Alex manages quantitative, qualitative, and best-in-class research & analyses to help our clients address business-critical challenges, irrespective of whether they are strategic or operational in nature.
Over the course of his diverse and international career, Alex has gained extensive experience and functional expertise across a broad range of sectors and industries, including business services, transportation, aerospace & defense, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, retail, hotels, casino & gaming, beverages, human capital management, software, communications, media, insurance, and financial services.
Alex’s professional experiences include derivatives trading support and risk management for Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, the former investment banking division of Allianz SE and industry research and analysis with the Corporate Executive Board, a Washington, D.C.-based strategic research and executive education firm, providing business support to finance and operations executives of multinational corporations. Prior to joining Metis Strategy, Alex worked as Director of International Business Development and Public Affairs for a U.S.-based consultancy, providing professional services to German and U.S. companies, seeking to establish, grow, or protect their business interests in the other country.
Previously, Alex led the European launch of a U.S. based financial services and marketing company and worked on policy and legal affairs for German state ministries, a major San Francisco law firm, the District Court of Düsseldorf, Germany, and for the German Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.
Alex holds a German law degree from the University of Heidelberg and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts and Harvard Universities) in Boston. Alex also studied European, Corporate, and Environmental law at the Universities of Lausanne, Switzerland and Bayreuth, Germany.
In addition to being a native German-speaker, Alex speaks English and French fluently and continues to work on his basic Spanish and Japanese language skills.
