David Dodson

Bestselling Author of "The Manager's Handbook", Lecturer in Management at Stanford, & Seasoned Entrepreneur
David Dodson is an entrepreneur, academic, and author. After graduating from Stanford Graduate School of Business, he served as a case writer. While in that post, he wrote the original course material for the search funds, which are investment vehicles in which investors financially support an entrepreneur's efforts to acquire and grow a privately held company. They were relatively new at the time. A year later, David raised his own search fund, which led to the purchase of a company in 1989. He subsequently raised two more search funds. David has since invested in more than 40 businesses and he's been a director of 21 different companies. David is also a lecturer in management at his alma mater, Stanford Graduate School of Business. His area of research includes, given his experience, entrepreneurial acquisition as well as management issues associated with growing enterprises, small and medium-sized acquired companies, and early-stage organizations. He synthesized his experiences and his research in his recent book, The Manager's Handbook: Five Simple Steps to Build a Team, Stay Focused, Make Better Decisions, and Crush Your Competition.
